Peyton Manning Ruled Out of Indianapolis Colts' Season Opener

Manning's streak of 208 consecutive regular-season starts is officially over.

Due to his neck problems, he will not play for the Colts in their 2011 season opener against the Houston Texans.

Manning's 208 consecutive regular-season starts is second in the NFL record books to Brett Favre, who started in 297 consecutive regular-season games.

Say what you will about how Favre's record may never be broken, but he never had to deal with a work stoppage that kept him from seeing the team trainer during the offseason.

I don't know if seeing the Colts' trainer would have helped Manning's neck recover faster. But it is something to think about.
