A South African 50-year-old man awakens within a mortuary over the weekend and shouted to be released- shocking away attendants who considered he was a ghost.
His family assumed he was dead when they could not get up him on Saturday night and called a private morgue in a rural village in the Eastern Cape .
He depleted about 24 hours within the morgue, the local's health department spokesman told the Sapa news agency.
The two attendants later come back and called for an ambulance.
The man - whose personality has been withheld - was treated in hospital for dehydration.
"He did not require more cure."
Mr. Kupelo said the man woke up at 1700 local time (1500 GMT) on Sunday, asking to be freed of the frosty morgue in Libode village, terrifying the helpers on duty.
Initially the men ran for their lives," said Mr. Kupelo.
Administrators have advised the public to get in touch with the doctors or the emergency services so they can they can announce someone dead before calling an undertaker.
"You start to ask yourself how many other people have died like that in a morgue," said Mr. Kupelo.
"We want to get the message throughout to all South Africans that it is very incorrect for them to assume on their own that a person has died," he said.
